Rodale Institute set to host annual Organic Field Day July 18
The Rodale Institute will welcome farmers, researchers and community members to its annual Organic Field Day on July 18, at its headquarters in Kutztown, Pa. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT and feature nearly 20 demonstration stations across the Institute’s 386‑acre experimental farm.
Admission is $25, and attendees may walk between stations or ride on tractor‑pulled wagons, hopping on and off throughout the day. Participants are encouraged to bring their own lunch or purchase food on-site from organic food trucks.
The Organic Field Day will offer direct interaction with Rodale Institute experts and staff, highlighting recent research and practical applications across a range of organic production systems. Featured demonstration topics include:
- Agroforestry, vegetable systems and soil health/water quality
- Pastured hog production, treatment‑free beekeeping and no‑till management
- Compost production, tomato grafting and high‑tunnel production
Rodale Institute, founded in 1947 and based at Siegfried’s Dale Farm near Kutztown, conducts long-term side-by-side trials comparing organic and conventional systems, including the renowned Farming Systems Trial launched in 1981. The institute advances research in cover cropping, carbon sequestration, biological pest control and no‑till organic methods.
Annual Field Day events typically attract hundreds of attendees, including farmers, university researchers, students, government officials and nonprofit leaders from more than 16 states and several countries.
For those unable to attend in person, Rodale Institute also offers access to a virtual campus, where on-demand video highlights of research trials and farm projects are available.
The Annual Organic Field Day continues Rodale Institute’s mission of advancing regenerative organic agriculture through research, education and farmer outreach. Registration and additional information are available on the Rodale Institute website.
