USDA adds fraud prevention info for inspectors

The USDA Organic Integrity Learning Center has added information on effective practices for organic inspectors to its website.

The learning center provides free, on-demand online training to support the professional development and continuing education of people working to protect organic integrity. The National Organic Program (NOP) recently published new Fraud Prevention: Effective Inspector Practices “microlearning” information. It is part of the NOP’s ongoing training and outreach for certifiers and inspectors on Strengthening Organic Enforcement (SOE).

The microlearning is for everyone who is involved in the organic oversight system. It describes effective practices in organic inspections to prevent organic fraud. The microlearning explains the roles of certifiers, inspectors, and other stakeholders working in the certification process. It explores ways organic inspectors can participate in organic oversight while also preventing organic fraud.

Access to the Fraud Prevention: Effective Inspector Practices microlearning is through the NOP-997: National Organic Program Microlearning course. Watch the media for more information about inspector soft skills, expectations of inspectors and certifiers, and the basics of organic inspections and fraud prevention.
