Wightman Farms set to be part of NJSHS’ 2024 Summer Orchard Tour
The New Jersey State Horticultural Society’s 2024 Summer Orchard Tour and Educational Program is set to take place at Wightman Farms on Thursday, June 27. This event will run from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is open to all commercial tree fruit growers.
Wightman Farms is hosting the event that will feature valuable insights and hands-on demonstrations in orchard management. Other activities include a farm tour, wagon rides, and demonstrations on topics such as tall spindle apple culture, summer pruning of apple trees and apple crop load management.
A special guest speaker, Jon Clements, an extension educator from the University of Massachusetts and an expert in the tall spindle apple system, will demonstrate the use of Outfield drones and Vivid Machines for apple crop load management and yield mapping.
Pre-registration is required by Monday, June 24, with a fee of $20, which includes lunch. Participants can pre-register and pay at njshs.org. For more information, contact Win Cowgill at 908-489-1476.
