Webinars on organic certification in India to be held

The National Organic Program will hold webinars at the end of March explaining steps of change in its policies for organic certification in India.

In January 2021, NOP announced it is ending the U.S.-India organic recognition agreement.

“That announcement started a transition period which allows organic operations certified by APEDA-accredited certifiers under the recognition agreement to apply to a USDA-accredited certifier for USDA organic certification,” the NOP wrote in a recent newsletter. “To help communicate the transition process to the organic trade, the NOP is hosting a webinar to describe the next steps that India exporters, U.S. importers, and certifiers need to take during the transition period. We are offering the same webinar twice, to provide maximum access for participants in time zones around the world. The same content will be covered on both webinars.”

Two webinars are planned, according to the newsletter:

Inividuals who register will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

After the webinar, meeting materials will be posted on the AMS India Organic Trade webpage.
