Strong market for organic foods discussed at United Fresh LIVE!

An encouraging session on the state of organic food markets was recently held at United Fresh LIVE!, a virtual event for the produce processing industry.

United Fresh Produce Association and Organic Produce Network (OPN) collaborated to offer a general session Wednesday, June 17 at the event.

The session was led by OPN Co-Founder and Executive Vice President Tonya Antle, and will featured top industry leaders addressing the future of organics in a post-coronavirus environment.

Other participants in the session included:

  • Jerry Callahan, Group Vice President, Produce and Floral / Albertsons.
  • Rich Mendonsa,
    Vice President of Produce & Floral Procurement / Albertsons.
  • Rod Braga, President / Braga Fresh Family Farms, Josies Organics.
  • Brian Kocher, President & CEO / Castellini Group of Companies.

The group discussed recent statistics on the growth of sales of organic produce, as well as specific commodities and products in the retail market. During the COVID-19 pandemic, consumers are showing a preference for staple items rather than new products.
