Stokes Seeds, Planttape form partnership
A seed company and a provider of an automated transplanting system are joining forces to better serve their grower customers.
Stokes Seeds has entered into a partnership with PlantTape to become the recommended seed supplier to PlantTape customers across the eastern half of the U.S. and Canada.
Under the new arrangement, Stokes Seeds and PlantTape will collaborate to supply growers utilizing PlantTape technology with the highest quality seed available to best leverage the advantages of the planting system, according to a news release.
To enable faster processing of customer orders and movement of seeded plant tape to greenhouses, seed will be warehoused at PlantTape’s Livingston, Tennessee, operation, according to the release.
Stokes Seeds sales representatives will provide growers with PlantTape specifications and available options for PlantTape-certified greenhouses, along with recommendations for seed that will be sown using the PlantTape technology, according to the release.
Based in Salinas, California, PlantTape provides an automated transplanting system that brings precision agriculture to commercial vegetable producers. Crops frequently transplanted using PlantTape technology include lettuce, leek, cabbage, broccoli, celery and tomatoes.
Beginning operations in 1881, Stokes Seeds is a leading distributor of commercial vegetable seeds. Based in Holland, Michigan, Stokes Seeds has operations in Buffalo, New York, Vineland, New Jersey, Moultrie, Georgia, LaBelle, Florida, and Thorold, Ontario.
Stokes Seeds services customers via 25 territory managers who work to provide new varieties, according to the release.
