Policy expert Mihalick joins the Organic Trade Association
Policy expert Peter Mihalick has joined the Organic Trade Association as its senior director of government affairs.
Mihalick, who has worked in the private sector and in staff positions in the U.S. Congress, will lead OTA’s advocacy efforts in the development of the 2023 Farm Bill and work with lawmakers and policy makers to advance organic agriculture.
“I am excited to return to my roots working on agriculture policy,” Mihalick said in a news release. “I’m eager to work with my colleagues and other stakeholders to continue the growth of organic agriculture and to build on the gains that organic achieved in the last Farm Bill.”
Mihalick most recently served as associate director of policy and regulatory affairs at the National Community Pharmacists Association and vice president for the American Medical Informatics Association. During nearly a decade on Capitol Hill, Mihalick worked for several former and current members of the House of Representatives, serving as an agriculture, tax, and trade adviser.
He is a licensed attorney in New York and Maryland and is a graduate of Syracuse University and the Hofstra University School of Law.
“Peter’s experience in advocacy and in shaping policy and his ability to work across the public and private sectors will serve us well,” OTA CEO Tom Chapman said. “This is a critical time for organic, and the addition of Peter to our staff will strengthen our efforts to make the voices and perspectives of organic heard and respected.”
