Organic vegetable production to be part of Texas conference
A Vegetable Growers Conference is set for April 6 at the SPJST Lodge, 5025 Farm-to-Market Road 619, Taylor, Texas.
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service event will take place from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and is hosted by the AgriLife Extension office of Williamson County.
Preregistration is required at https://tx.ag/WillCoEvents. The program registration fee is $10 and will include lunch.
“The conference is designed so commercial vegetable and fruit growers, as well as hobby gardeners, will all benefit from the program,” said Kate Whitney, AgriLife Extension horticulturist for Williamson County. “A special thanks to Williamson County Farm Bureau for sponsoring the program.”
For attendees with a private applicator license, two Texas Department of Agriculture continuing education units in integrated pest management are available.

- Weed and Pest Control in Vegetables – Russ Wallace, Ph.D., AgriLife Extension horticulturist, Lubbock.
- Using High Tunnels to Extend the Season – Wallace.
- Strawberry Production – Wallace.
- Organic Vegetable Production – Bob Whitney, AgriLife Extension organic program specialist, Stephenville.
