Do you know a grower who has committed to and made significant progress toward a more sustainable operation? Do they set the standard for sustainable innovation in the specialty crop market? If so, nominate them for the inaugural Specialty Grower Sustainability Award by April 16, 2021.
Presented by Great American Media Services and Valent U.S.A., the Specialty Grower Sustainability Award will recognize a grower who prioritizes sustainability — balancing social, environmental and economic impacts — on their operation. Whether they recently began implementing cutting-edge sustainable practices or they have years of demonstrated success of continuous improvement through sustainability initiatives, they are eligible for the Specialty Grower Sustainability Award competition.
Examples of what we are looking for:
- New irrigation practices/system that reduces water usage
- Participation in sustainability tracing programs
- Social impact in local community
- Applying more biological products vs. conventional chemistries
Each nomination will be judged on its own merits with an emphasis on progress and results. Judging will be scored based on a grower or growing operation taking significant strides in sustainable agriculture through agronomic practices, protocol and advocacy in the following categories:
- Innovative Thinking
- Execution
- Impact/Results
- Leadership in the Industry
The Specialty Grower Sustainability Award winner will be announced at the United Fresh Convention & Expo in June 2021 and profiled in upcoming issues of Great American Media Services Specialty Agriculture publications — Vegetable Growers News; Fruit Growers News; Spudman and Organic Grower.
