Michigan field day to spotlight organic weed control strategies
Vegetable growers seeking sustainable weed management solutions are invited to attend the Organic Weed Management Field Day on Thursday, Aug. 7, at Full Hollow Farm in Belding, Michigan.
Hosted from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event will showcase practical techniques for controlling weeds organically, with demonstrations and discussion led by farmers Jamie Wilbraham and Brad Smith of Full Hollow Farm. Attendees will learn about effective weed control using hand tools and tractor cultivation, along with additional insights from guest speakers.
The event is part of the Michigan Transition to Organic Partnership Program (TOPP), an initiative aimed at supporting growers through the shift to organic practices.
“This field day is a great opportunity for both beginning and experienced growers to see organic methods in action and hear directly from farmers who use them every day,” said event organizers.
Registration is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to register in advance online.
Full Hollow Farm is located at 7944 Palmer Road, Belding, MI 48809. For more information, contact Mariel Borgman at mborgm@msu.edu.
