The Michigan Apple Committee has opened applications for its 2026 Michigan Apple Scholarship Program, which will award up to three $5,000 scholarships to young people with strong connections to the state’s apple industry. Applications are due Nov. 15.

Applicants must be 17 to 23 years old by Dec. 31 and be the child, sibling, grandchild, niece or nephew of a Michigan apple producer. The program does not have a field-of-study requirement.

Applicants must have extensive knowledge of the Michigan apple industry. The application process includes an essay and a short-form video.

“This scholarship is an exciting opportunity for us to invest in the future of Michigan’s apple industry,” said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee. “Considering the vast career opportunities available in the industry, our scholarship has no field-of-study requirement.”

Scholarship recipients will represent the Michigan apple industry for one year, including through social media and other communication channels. Recipients will be announced at the Grower Luncheon during the Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable and Farm Market Expo.

Students can request an application by emailing staff@michiganapples.com.
