Fresh Inset expands shelf life extension technology into U.S.
Fresh Inset has introduced its shelf life extension technology to the U.S. market.
The Vidre+ Complex technology aims to improve the shelf life of vegetables, and it enhances the application of 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) across the entire supply chain, making existing packaging more effective at reducing ethylene’s impact on produce quality.
The Vidre+ technology boasts that it enables existing fresh produce packaging to become adaptable, offering adjustable protection against ethylene, which can negatively impact produce quality.
A key component of this innovation is the Vidre+ Sticker, which can be customized in size and dosage to protect ethylene-sensitive produce in various packaging types, including cardboard boxes, bags, trays and clamshells. The technology’s gradual release of 1-MCP extends the freshness and quality of produce, benefiting crops like cherries, blueberries, tomatoes and leafy greens.
Vidre+ has received GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) status from the FDA, allowing its use across different stages of the supply chain, from post-harvest to transport and storage. Fresh Inset’s entry into the U.S. market marks a significant advancement in 1-MCP delivery, providing a practical solution for extending the shelf life of a wide range of produce.
