International organics group IFOAM is holding a contest for innovations in organic farming.

IFOAM – Organics International is holding a contest in conjunction with the South Korean Rural Development Administration, and IFOAM’s Technology Innovation Platform join together to honor the most outstanding organic innovators with the Organic Farming Innovation Award.

“We call on the organic movement to bring our attention to the excellent work of organic innovators around the world! All applicants are welcome,” according to IFOAM’s recent announcement.

The contest is specifically looking for innovations that:

  • Are applicable to organic farming, processing, and trade.
  • Are innovative and new in their context.
  • Are relevant for solving real problems or exploring potential.
  • Have strong potential for positive and sustainable impact.

The application deadline is April 1, 2020. Applications in English, French, German, Spanish, Mandarin, or Korean will be accepted. Apply online, or learn more about the contest, here.

A committee will select one Grand Prize and one Science Prize winner based on the criteria of innovativeness, relevance, and impact potential.

“Each winner will receive a monetary award (Grand Prize: $10,000 USD and Science Prize: $5,000 USD), and be invited to the 20th edition of the Organic World Congress (OWC 2020) to showcase their work,” according to the announcement. “Travel, accommodation, and OWC registration expenses will be covered.” OWC 2020 is scheduled for September 21-27 in Rennes, France.
